We deploy only the most experienced and qualified of the company’s Guides on our mobile expeditions. Carefully trained by Ralph Bousfield, each qualified Biologist Guide must have a minimum of at least two years guiding experience in the Kalahari allowing us to give our Guests a holistic understanding of this magical and pristine wilderness environment.

Itinerary Highlights

Day 1

Guests arrive at the Xaraxai Airstrip where you will be met by your Guide. Drive to camp while enjoying the the sights and familiarising yourself with the area. Arrive and settle in. Enjoy a delicious afternoon tea and relax before setting of for an evening game drive and sundowners.

Return to camp for dinner under the stars.



Day 2

 Breakfast at first light and then head out on a game drive in the safari cars for your introduction to some of the animals of the environment, looking for zebra, wildebeest, impala and the predators.

Make your way to a shady lunch spot and dip your toes into the cool water.

Park at the edge of the river and watch a myriad of birds coming down to drink whilst you are given an informal talk on the area.  Return to camp siesta and tea.

Enjoy another evening game drive and return to camp for a sumptuous dinner.

Day 3

After a hearty breakfast; set out on your morning game drive to explore the wider area around camp.

Search out the creatures and plants typical of the ecosystem and explore the interrelationships of species and the systems in which they live.

Return to camp for lunch. Spend your afternoon indulging yourself in tea or or a little siesta. 

Depart from camp on Mekoro to the island at around 3:30. Spot small crocodiles basking in the sun on sparkling white sandbanks and hippos jousting for territories .The deep open lagoons provide a wonderful channels to stop and admire rare birds and the diversity of aquatic life.

Arrive at your private, lantern-lit camp on an island, just after sunset. Shower and relax around the fire before dinner under the stars. Sleep in a mosquito net tent and luxuriate in the freedom of a night in the open, surrounded by nature at her very best.

Day 4

After a short walk around the island, hop back into your Mekoro for a meander through the waterways, absorbing the tranquillity of the lagoons and narrow, papyrus-fringed, hippo trails and immersing yourself completely in the incredible spectacles that the Delta has to offer.

Search out hippo and elephants and learn about how important the Okavango is to these enormous herbivores

Marvel at these amazing creatures from your Mekoro as they wash and feed on the roots of aquatic plants. Picnic and siesta in the arms of a giant shady baobab. Spend the afternoon seeking out hyaena dens and, as the day cools down, look out for hunting cats.

Head on to your next location where you can enjoy a refreshing shower and delectable dinner.

Day 5

Rise early and, after breakfast, explore the junction between land and water.

Set off to access the hidden nooks and crannies of the Delta through the dry flood plains and woodlands that border the great swamps. Search for lechwe and sitatunga, unusual semi-aquatic antelope specially adapted to the fringe environment.

All day predator hunt. Spend the day indulging yourself completely in seeking out your favourite species. Leopard, lion, cheetah and wild dog. If you want to watch lions mating for two hours or prefer to watch bee eaters hawking insects on the wing then so be it.   

Return to camp for your last night in this incredible Eden.

Day 6

Say farewells to the camp and transfer out of Xaraxai Airstrip to your next destination.
